ok, pretty much i'm gonna get some money and I'm going to finish off really making my pc by putting in a cpu cooler, a new 1TB HDD, and a new graphics card

HDD:Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB
http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/pro ... s_id=43885
CPU COOLER:Cogage ARROW Twin Tower CPU Cooler
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?mai ... s_id=13498
GRAPHICS CARD:EVGA NVIDIA GTX260+ Superclocked
http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/pro ... s_id=42816

I think I'm pretty much sorted for the HDD and Cooler but I don't know as much about gfx cards so just thought I'd ask bout whats happening with with them atm... even though im leaning toward nvidia ^^^ i'm still kinda sitting on the fence, cause recently ATI looks like like they're starting to give better warranties and support... like DOWII chaos rising is now supported by ATI and not Nvidea... and they really shot nvidea down when they released some of their latest cards and nvidea had to like half the prices of their cards...
the only reason i'm looking at getting Nvidea is cause I have some kind of attraction to them cause I had a bad childhood experience with ati... (i think it was cause i got given a free game and it didnt work cause i had an ATI card... seemed like a big deal at the time)

anyway, long story short... I'm looking for a graphics card for around $300... and I'm open for suggestions

yes, I do realise I'm opening a can of worms... or more like a can of crazed ATI supporters

uh.... All games should be able to run on a graphics card of any company as long as it is up to spec...

and as for that ATi card you recieved when you were little... try maybe the card wasn't good enough and not just cause it was ATi

Well if you want nVidia i would strongly suggest the GTX275... good bang for buck and performance... but it is nVidia so its no where near as good a value as ATi cards out.

If your willing to shell out 300ish.. the ATI 5850 is hands down the best bet... and even nVidia lovers with half a brain would say that too. Also if you want more than 2 screens you can get crossfire 5770 :) All is a good bet :)
