For anyone else who finds that the online for Gears was totally broken, TU3 is on it's way!
This update will include:
- New Ranking System: 100 Ranks, like CoD
- Various Glitch Fixes, including Smoke Out of Map, Chainsaw Vortex and that annoying glitch where Skorge dies because a smoke nade throw him into a car >_>
- New servers for matchmaking

Yeah, meaning matchmaking should logically take 5 minutes max and also give good connection. If it works like Epic says, then Gears 2 will be finally playable lol

Games like GoW2 that decide to follow the Trueskill Matchmaking revolution need to learn off Halo 3. Everyone here should agree that Halos matchmaking for Ranked was flawless almost. If every game used the exact same style of matchmaking then gaming would be bliss ^_^

i disagree. i personally dont like the ranking system in halo... and matchmaking is a pain in the ass... takes a good 15 minutes sometimes to find a match, i think cod 5 has teh best matchmaking system i have ever seen for a console, u choose if u want local servers etc, and it finds one in less than a minute, and its got next to no lag, instant pwnage.

im saying it took far too long to find a match, like a good 10 freaking minutes some time... no joke. and after one match, you had to search for another one, and that took up even more time that you could be spending killing other gamers....

COD was good in the sense that it took a maximum of 30 seconds for find a match, and after that match you were with the same group and immediatly started a new match.... very effective online play. one match would end, another would start.

Call of Duty also had the typical host system where if host quit, everyone else had to and a great number of exp was lost. Not all of it, but some of it and over time this was annoying. Halo however allocates another host.

But onto the main subject matter here which was Gears 2 failed at matchmaking due to copying Halos matchmaking.

When did I say Halo matchmaking sucks? I said instead of ending your game it allocates a new host so you continue.

providing you are willing to wait long enough to find a match....

you get one match at a time, and if your lucky the people party up and speed up match finding time by a fraction of a second.
i personally found halo 3 matchmaking aweful, i think that games nowaday should have the cod waw matchmaking style because it is far more efficient in finding a match,
and oh yea, cod waw too looks for a new host if one leaves i might add.



but leme get this straigh... you like halo 3 matchmaking, but not gow 2 matchmaking which is based the same as halo 3's?
